In reading, we have been learning about how to retell a story in order to develop comprehension. Students are learning to retell the story in 3 parts; a beginning, middle, and end. In the beginning, your child is required to identify the characters, setting, and problem of the story. In the middle, we are asking for your child to explain 2 or 3 important events that help them understand the story. In the end, students are asked to identify and explain the solution to the problem stated in the beginning.
Retelling is an important skill that helps students understand the story. When you are reading at home with your child, please have your students retell the story using these elements either in written form or verbally.
Thank your for your continued assistance with your child's learning!
